2023 Pavilion of Finland at the International Architecture Biennale in Venice, Italy

The exhibition design, graphic design and screenwriting, part of the Dry Collective.

The Pavilion of Finland at the 18th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia presents The Dry Collective's exhibition Huussi, Imagining the future history of sanitation. The exhibition deals with the architecture of water and nutrient circulation and questions the sanitary solution we take for granted, the water toilet. The main film of the exhibition "Death to the Flushing Toilet" is a mockumentary from the year 2043. The other two films of the exhibition are short documentaries. Watch all three films below.

The exhibition was created by The Dry Collective, which was made of architects Arja Renell, Emmi Keskisarja, Barbara Motta, Eero Renell, Janne Teräsvirta and creative director Antero Jokinen. The exhibition concept was chosen through an open call process.

The films of the exhibition are produced by Henkka Hämäläinen / Breakfast. The main film is directed by Pekka Hara. The films are edited by Simo Liukka and Mikko Löppönen. Cinematographer is Petteri Lappalainen, the costumer designer is Milla Muurimäki. The animations are created by Tauno Sillanpää and Ilkka Luttinen / Koski Syväri.

All the photographs of the pavillion are by Ugo Carmeni.

The Huussi created a lot of mentions in the international press. The exhibition was featured in The Guardian, New York Times, Bloomberg, CNN, Euronews, Manila Times, Wallpaper, Dezeen, Archdaily, Helsingin Sanomat and dozens of other medias.
